Building Access
All public areas of the library are handicapped accessible, in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act: handicapped parking in the Elm Street driveway, ground-level entry, automated door openers, an elevator to all floors, and wheelchair accessible restrooms.
Alternative Media
- Large-Print book collection (over 1,000 titles).
- Audiobooks on both CD and cassette.
- Audiobooks via Maine InfoNet Download Library.
- Video collection of over 3,000 titles.
Access Keys for Web site Navigation
Access keys allow you to jump to specific locations within the Web site by using the keyboard instead of the mouse. The following access keys are available on the library's web site:

Web Standards Compliance

We strive to validate all pages on the site as XHTML 1.0 Transitional, and to comply with W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
- Text navigation links for users with non-graphical browsers.
- Cascading stylesheets are used for layout. Page content flows properly in browsers that do not support stylesheets.
- Font sizing is compatible with user-selected "text size" menu options in graphical browsers.
- Graphics have descriptive
altandtitleattributes for use by screen reading software. - Color scheme not essential to conveying content, i.e. all pages are legible with colors turned off.
